Avocado tops the healthy diet scale as a “good fat” rock star, and can be incorporated into a diet into several different ways that go way beyond just chips and guacamole. Avocado is a natural, healthy secret weapon for keeping hunger at bay. From adding it to smoothies, to substituting to butter when baking to spreading it on crackers, the sky is the limit with this fat that keeps one super healthy.
CBS News reports that two-thirds of U.S. adults are overweight and obese, which kicks into high gear the need to start 2014 with healthy diet tips. When it comes to tried and true ways to stay healthy, Federal health officials cite to nutritional diets high in fruits and vegetables, and low in sugar, fat and salty processed foods.
A balanced and healthy nutritional diet, coupled with regular physical activity for roughly two and the half hours per week works wonders for keeping healthy, but according to CBS News, most U.S. adults don’t even meet that level of aerobic activity. From walking the dog or running with friends after work, the key is to just try to move at least once a day.
In addition to eating healthy, studies have shown that sleep may be more important than exercise when it comes to staying healthy. One healthy diet tip that most folks can afford is sleep. It is a great, cheap way to trim fat off the hips. Less sleep increase early afternoon hunger and appetite, leading to excessive eating and weight gain, according to studies from the University of Texas South Western Medical Center and the University of Chicago.
For those trying to maintain consistency, CBS New York Channel 2 News reports that a great way to stay on a healthy diet is to keep a food journal. Writing down what one eats put the spotlight on what food choices one makes. It also allows those consistently staying to track to indulge every now and then.
